Annual Report of Dharma Jyoti 2015 – 2016

Dharma Jyoti Vidya Peeth is an expression of the commitment of the Church to provide theological platform to redefine her vision and mission for a genuine Christian witness in the emerging North Indian Context. As theological training in India is witnessing tremendous changes in the contemporary social scenario, Dharma Jyoti Vidya Peeth, in each stage of its journey, tries to identify the challenges of the day, and equips young minds for Christian ministry in Northern part of India by actively proclaiming the ‘good news to the poor, release to the captives, sight to the blind, freedom to the oppressed and preaches the year of the Lord.’ By God’s grace Dharma Jyoti Vidya Peeth has completed 16 years in its ministry of training young men and women for the mission and ministry of the Church.

Annual Report of Dharma Jyoti 2014 – 2015

“For a Church which acknowledge the Lordship of Christ over all the world and all history, it is necessary to discern Christ working in the world so that we may witness to what he is doing and be with him when he acts”(M.M. Thomas). As God's incarnation took place within a specific context, God's mission always evolves in social, economic, political and cultural contexts. Therefore discerning the signs of the times with biblical spirituality and prophetic engagement is a need of the hour. To identify the challenges of the day and equip young minds for Christian ministry in Northern part of India, Dharma Jyoti Vidya Peeth as theological institution of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian church continues its blessed journey of 15 years to progress as a missionary training centre and a school of Theological learning and ministerial formation. Thus, the aim of Dharma Jyoti is to expose students to rural and urban realities and prima facie thereby be challenged by those socio-religious, politico-economic and aesthetic particularities they encounter, in the rural and urban settings and to engage in the process of building up a community rooted in the Kingdom values.

Dharma Jyoti Vidya Peeth

Alexander Mar Thoma Centre for Theological and Developmental Studies Affiliated to the Senate of Serampore College (University)

Annual Report 2013 - 2014

By God's grace Dharma Jyoti Vidya Peeth completed fourteen years in its ministry of training young people as missionaries to the Indian rural and urban settings. We have grown as a missionary training centre and a school of theological learning and ministerial formation for the North Indian milieu. Dharma Jyoti envisions to carry out systematic and in-depth study on the pattern of Christian witness amidst the rural and pluralistic context of India by actively proclaiming the 'good news to the poor, release to the captives, sight to the blind, freedom to the oppressed and preaches the year of the Lord.' Thus, the aim of Dharma Jyoti is to expose students prima facie to rural and urban realities and thereby be challenged by those socio religious, politico-economic and aesthetic particularities they encounter, in the rural and urban settings and to engage in the process of building up a community rooted in the Kingdom values. The theme chosen for this year was 'Towards a Rainbow Community.'
